The first ever Downtown Mall Block Party will be an evening to remember into a New Orleans-style festival for TWO nights! Grab a drink from your favorite local bar, and take take it with you onto the bricks. Check out galleries and shops, listen to live performances, and hang out with friends, old and new.

BIOS

 

HIP HOP STAGE


Brandon Dudley, a Charlottesville native, is credited with igniting the city’s hip hop music scene. Brandon,widely known as LeeBangah within the music industry is considered a trailblazer for the self-starting hip hop artists of Charlottesville.


Heavy Gripp LT has been delivering consistent summertime anthems and melodic songs. Born, Laraj Thomas, in Charlottesville, Virginia, he pushes to bring about unity to his peers, LT works with the youth whom are inspired to take music recording to the next level, in hopes that one day they may have a platform to display their art and story through music.


Shad Gill - CEO and Founder of SVN7VII Brand & Inspirational Hip Hop artist is a native of Charlottesville. Shad seeks to use fashion and music to inspire others to live a life of love and purpose while honoring God, family and community along the way.



LATIN STAGE & AFROBEATS STAGE



Charlie Devine, has been a fixture in the Kizomba and Latin dance scenes in the DMV for over 8 years. He has DJ at some of the largest dance festivals in he US including DCBX. DJ Devine is regular DJ at Noche de Baile, Whiskey Bar, and other Kizomba and Latin in the DC area. He specializes in Urban Kiz, Kizomba, Salsa, Bachata, and Latin club music.


DJ Sing and C’ville Bachata Social - Sing started DJing EDM music in Singapore and Malaysia before coming to the States. He founded C’ville Bachata Social in 2021 with the goal for people in Charlottesville to dance the night away while learning about different cultures and Latin music.


Cville Zouk was founded in 2019. Our mission is to create a beautiful zouk community in Charlottesville and spread the love of zouk through lessons, workshops, and socials. Facebook

Capoeira Resistência Charlottesville is a Brazilian martial arts group taught by Professor Balanco (Roderick Davis), who has studied, trained and taught under the guidance of Mestre Panao. Through practice of movement, balance, and rhythm, Capoeira Resistência advocates the principles of respect, responsibility, security, and liberty within individuals.

Phillip Fusaro and Alyssa Correa (C4-Kiz) Alyssa & Phillip have been dancing separately and together for nearly a decade. In 2019, they formed the C4-Kiz group to bring Kizomba back to Charlottesville.


Charlottesville Community Drum Choir, A group of your neighbors who share a passion for the music and rhythms of West Africa, the Drum Choir has performed locally and regionally since 1998 and host their African teachers for both drum and dance classes open to the public. A weekly drum circle is held every Saturday morning 11:00 to 12:30 at The Front Porch.



ROOTS STAGE AND ART MAKING STAGE




Dillon Norback is a Charlottesville musician who uses the vehicle of Improv & Jam music to blend his way through as many genres as he can. Mainly, Blues, Funk, Soul, Americana & Reggae with increasing seasonings of Metal, Jazz, Hip-Hop/Rap (Dillons first musical love) & others. In short, expect the unexpected.


The Root Cellar Remedy is brewed locally in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Ivy, VA. The eclectic sound is steeped in Americana, Folk, Cosmic Country and Rock & Roll. The band released the four-song "Quarentown EP" last summer and is currently working on it's first full length album to be released this Summer.


Chicho Lorenzo is a Spanish artist known for his murals and sculptures that portray the communities they’re in, with surreal additions that interactively inspire us to dream. His most famous projects include giant Dream BIG, the Open windows mural that helped a whole town healing, the Nest Love sign, and the Monuments to Yourself, interactive bike unicorn permanent installations, in Richmond and Charlottesville, Virginia.
